LIC have been providing innovative farming solutions for over 100 years, and today, we're proudly NZ's leading agri-tech and dairy herd improvement cooperative. We are a part of a wider NZ Inc. and play a key role in driving economic growth in NZ. We achieve this through our world-renowned genetics and technology products, which create more sustainable and profitable farms.
About the role:
We’re looking for a thoughtful and curious UX Designer to join our Experience Design team. You’ll work closely with product managers, developers, and fellow designers to understand user needs and translate them into simple, meaningful and usable experiences.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for uncovering insights, mapping journeys, validating assumptions, and designing flows that help our users achieve their goals — while balancing business and technical constraints.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define user problems and shape product strategy through a UX lens.
- Conduct user research (interviews, surveys, usability tests) and translate insights into actionable design decisions.
- Develop user journeys, information architecture, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
- Facilitate workshops and design sessions to align on goals and co-create solutions.
- Advocate for the user while balancing technical feasibility and business needs.
- Run usability testing sessions to validate and iterate on designs.
- Work with UI Designers and Developers to bring designs to life and ensure intent is retained.
- Contribute to and help evolve our design systems and UX practices.
About you:
- Proven experience in UX Design, with a portfolio showcasing user-centered solutions.
- Strong understanding of design thinking, user research methods, and usability principles.
- Skilled at creating flows, wireframes, and prototypes using Figma.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to simplify complex problems.
- Great communicator and collaborator, especially when advocating for users.
- Familiarity with agile product development environments.
- Bonus: Experience working with rural, industrial, or technical user groups.
Why you'll love working here:
Based 10 minutes from Hamilton, in a semi-rural location, the role provides the opportunity for a lifestyle change for those seeking a better work -life balance and wanting to escape the 'rat race' and cost of living in bigger cities. Alternatively, we are open to flexible and remote working arrangements.
- Be part of a team that’s genuinely user-focused and values good design.
- Work on meaningful problems with real-world impact.
- Flexibility in how and where you work.
- A collaborative culture that welcomes experimentation, feedback and growth.
The role provides the opportunity to join a progressive and forward-thinking organisation, at the cutting edge of agri-tech, where you'll play a role in driving the future of dairy in NZ.
