We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our Animal Health Lab team. You will be joining the Operations & Service Group and reporting to the Animal Health Laboratory Team Leader.
About the role:
The role is based in Riverlea, where there is free onsite parking. We also offer flexible working hours and are more than happy to discuss flexible start and finish times to suit your lifestyle.
Your role will responsible for preparation and testing of bovine tissue, blood and semen samples for Animal Health testing. Alongside this you will maintain the operation of the laboratory within the required ISO standards, including but not limited to the maintenance and calibration of the laboratory equipment. Your key focus will include:
- Preparation and testing of Bovine tissue, milk, blood and semen samples for PCR and ELISA testing in the Animal Health Laboratory
- Accurately reporting results in a timely manner
- Maintaining lab equipment and assisting with calibrations
- Implementation and maintenance of ISO 17025 quality standards for all laboratory practices
- Using your knowledge and experience to mentor and support colleagues
About You:
Our ideal candidate will have a few years' experience in a commercial laboratory under their belt, but most importantly, will have a positive mindset and willingness to learn. You’ll also demonstrate:
• A can-do attitude and positive approach
• An eagerness to learn and have the ability to pick up new info quickly.
• Be agile, flexible and collaborative.
• Experience in PCR and ELISA testing would be advantageous.
• Having an understanding of the farming environment is also desirable.
