Do you love being outdoors and working with animals? Have a strong customer focus?
LIC is a farmer-owned co-operative that’s been supporting herd improvement in New Zealand’s dairy sector for more than 115 years. We’re focused on providing superior genetics, reliable testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and great customer service, all designed to help farmers make smarter decisions every day.
As a proud generational co-operative, we’re here for farmers, their families, and rural communities, not just for today, but for the future. And none of it happens without our people. Whether on farm, in the lab, or behind the scenes, every one of us plays a part in helping New Zealand farmers succeed.
About the Role:
Our On Farm Assists travel to and from dairy farms throughout the region to provide our farmers with much-needed support on farm.
No two days will be the same – you will assist with a range of different on-farm activities such as herd test support during milking, DNA sampling, herd audits and weighing animals – just to name a few.
If you are someone who thrives in busy environments, cares about animal welfare, enjoys being in the rural environment, loves helping people and craves variety, then this role is for you!

- Have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, and learn quickly
- Have excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Have excellent time management skills and a strong attention to detail
- Proficient computer skills
- Be physically fit and active
- Be self-motivated and professional
The ideal person will be someone who has a hands-on approach, knowledge of, and empathy for the New Zealand dairy industry. An integral part of this role will be interacting with farmers and field-based staff to ensure LIC deliver a quality service.
