Help tell the stories of New Zealand’s farmers and our co-operative’s impact Work across a wide variety of projects, no two days are the same Join a purpose-driven, supportive team
We usually respond within two weeks
LIC is a farmer-owned co-operative that’s been supporting herd improvement in New Zealand’s dairy sector for more than 115 years. We’re focused on providing superior genetics, reliable testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and great customer service, all designed to help farmers make smarter decisions every day.
As a proud generational co-operative, we’re here for farmers, their families, and rural communities, not just for today, but for the future. And none of it happens without our people. Whether on farm, in the lab, or behind the scenes, every one of us plays a part in helping New Zealand farmers succeed.
You’ll be part of the team that connects farmers with the tools, services, and stories that make a real difference on farm. Your work will be pivotal to building trust and supporting lasting relationships with our farmers year after year.
About the Role:
As a Communications Advisor at LIC, you’ll play a key role in bringing our communications strategy to life — helping tell the stories that connect our people, farmers, and communities. Working within the Customer Experience team, you’ll support the Communications and Brand Engagement team across internal and external communications, media, and digital channels. From crafting engaging stories and supporting social media engagement to providing shareholder updates and staff communications, you’ll help ensure consistent, high-quality messaging that reflects LIC’s purpose and values.
About You:
You’re a confident communicator who enjoys crafting clear, engaging messages and working collaboratively to bring ideas to life. You’re proactive, organised, and comfortable juggling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Most of all, you’re passionate about connecting with people and helping a trusted New Zealand co-operative share its story with farmers and employees alike.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- A tertiary qualification in communications, public relations or journalism
- Around three years’ experience in a communications or similar role
- Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills with great attention to detail
- Confidence managing content across channels including intranet, website and social media
- A collaborative, can-do attitude and the ability to build strong relationships across teams
- Initiative, curiosity and the ability to manage your own workload
- An understanding of or interest in New Zealand’s dairy or primary sector
In Return:
In addition to a competitive salary, you'll receive extra leave days, flexible working options, discounted health, life, income and disability insurances, access to our employee shares scheme, wellbeing discounts, free onsite parking, an employee assistance programme, plus more!
Based 10 minutes from Hamilton, in a semi-rural location, the role provides the opportunity for a lifestyle change for those seeking a better work -life balance and wanting to escape the 'rat race' and cost of living in bigger cities. Alternatively, we are open to flexible and remote working arrangements.
The role provides the opportunity to join a progressive and forward-thinking agri-tech organisation. This is a pivotal role, which has the support of the business and senior leaders, who understand the value the communications function brings to LIC. The team you will lead are highly engaged and genuinely passionate about telling LIC's story.
If you're after a rewarding career that offers development, learning and loads of exceptional experiences then look no further, you've found it. At LIC we are leading the way and we would love to welcome you to the team.
