Brian Aspin Memorial Scholarship
The Brian Aspin Scholarship empowers promising Agri students with financial support to grow their future and ultimately strengthen the dairy industry!
At LIC we are proud of our contribution to the New Zealand dairy sector. Our vision is to improve the prosperity and productivity of New Zealand farmers; and we want great people to join us on the journey.
The Livestock Improvement Brian Aspin Scholarship Programme is named after a passionate dairy farmer who had a 38 year association with LIC. He was an Artificial Breeding Technician, an Artificial Breeding Supervisor, Liaison Farmer and Shareholder Councillor. Following Brian’s passing, his family, in collaboration with LIC, created a memorial scholarship fund to ensure his legacy is preserved while supporting talented students pursuing careers in agriculture and farming.
Funding provisions and identification of candidates:
The Brian Aspin Memorial Scholarship is awarded to two post graduate students who are looking at a career in Agricultural Science.
LIC is privileged to match the $5,000 donated by the Aspin family, generating a total scholarship fund of $10,000 each, for two post-graduate students to undertake either Honours or Masters. Students are required to undertake study at either Massey or Lincoln Universities.
Criteria for selection:
Academic ability with special emphasis on agriculture. This should be accompanied by a completed referee report from the Head of the undergraduate department that has just been completed by the applicant.
A commitment to working in the agricultural disciplines arenas.
The student/s will use the scholarship grant towards completing his/her post-graduate study.
The student is a New Zealand citizen or resident legally able to work in New Zealand at the completion of study.
