About the Role:
Join LIC's Operations & Service Group and play a key role in delivering the products and services that support New Zealand's dairy farmers. Reporting to the Awahuri Lab Manager, you'll be part of the Semen Processing Laboratory team, helping ensure high-quality semen production while maintaining the strict standards required for international export markets.
This is a hands-on laboratory role that combines quality assurance, technical problem-solving, people leadership, and continuous improvement. You'll work closely with both permanent and seasonal team members, helping to drive operational excellence, maintain compliance with international regulations, and support the delivery of production targets.

Your Key Focus:
Supervise, train and competency check laboratory staff, maintaining accurate training records.
Ensure product quality through laboratory quality control processes.
Maintain, calibrate and service laboratory equipment.
Manage purchasing activities in line with company policies and budgets.
Support technical improvements and operational process changes.
Contribute to SOP development and updates.
Ensure compliance with OAP Operational Codes, EU & GBR OMARs and WOAH requirements.
Coordinate accurate and timely semen dispatch documentation.
Promote safe work practices and support health and safety compliance.
Your Key Skills & Experience:
Relevant tertiary qualification (BSc or equivalent).
Experience working in a laboratory environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of laboratory processes and quality systems.
Audit experience is desirable.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
Experience training and supporting staff.
Good computer skills, including databases, spreadsheets, word processing and SAP.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
