Your Role:
Join LIC's Data Platform team within the Digital Engineering group and help shape the future of data across our organisation.
Working alongside a team of Data Engineers and our Cloud Data Architect, you'll play a key role in modernising our data platform, improving data accessibility, and enabling better self-service capabilities for data consumers across the business.
We're at the beginning of an exciting data modernisation journey. This is your opportunity to influence the evaluation and adoption of modern data tools, technologies, and engineering practices while contributing to strategic technology initiatives that support LIC's future growth.
Your Key Focus:
Enhance our Data Engineering practices, including data governance, cataloguing, modern ELT approaches, streaming, security, automation, and data sharing.
Champion high-quality engineering standards and consistent delivery practices.
Contribute to and support LIC's Data Practice through collaboration, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
Work across technology teams to increase automation and improve end-to-end data delivery.
Develop a strong understanding of LIC's products, systems, and technology roadmap to support enterprise-wide thinking and alignment.
Ensure data engineering solutions support business objectives and product strategies.
Drive ideas, innovation, and continuous improvement across the team and wider Technology function.
Support a culture of learning and improvement through regular review and optimisation of engineering practices.
Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in Data Engineering and Analytics.
Your Key Skills & Experience:
Relevant tertiary qualification and at least 2 years' experience in a Data Engineering or similar role.
Experience with data governance and data catalogue tools.
Experience with Snowflake or other large-scale data platforms.
Understanding of data architecture, data management, and technology standards.
Strong ETL/ELT, SQL, and data analytics skills.
Experience with technologies such as AWS, Python, dbt, Debezium, or streaming platforms would be advantageous.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and technology delivery lifecycles.
Knowledge of current trends and best practices in Data Engineering and Analytics.
