About the role:
Are you a CA-qualified (or nearly qualified) accountant looking to broaden your experience across financial reporting, fixed assets, tax, systems and technical accounting?
At LIC, you'll join a collaborative and highly capable finance team that plays a vital role in supporting our business and helping New Zealand dairy farmers succeed.
Reporting to the Group Financial Accounting Manager, you'll be part of our Support Services Group, working alongside teams including Risk Management, Strategic Procurement, Company Secretariat, Legal Transformation Office and Group Financial Control. You'll provide financial accounting expertise and support across LIC and its subsidiaries, while building strong relationships across the organisation and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Your Key Focus:
This is a varied role that combines technical accounting, reporting, systems administration and business partnering. Key responsibilities include:
Leading fixed asset accounting and reporting processes, including IFRS 16 lease accounting and associated tax requirements.
Supporting the preparation of monthly reporting, forecasts, reconciliations, budgets, statutory accounts, group consolidations, balance sheet reporting and cash flow statements.
Assisting with tax compliance activities, including monthly and quarterly returns and annual tax processes.
Partnering with Commercial, International and Technology teams to support financial systems administration, including SAP and Business One.
Researching and providing technical accounting advice on IFRS and other accounting matters.
Building effective relationships across the business to provide insights, share best practice and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Contributing to a value-add finance function that supports business performance while ensuring compliance with policies, standards and statutory obligations.
Supporting projects and initiatives that help LIC continue to improve and evolve.
Your Key Skills & Experience:
To succeed in this role, you'll bring a combination of technical accounting expertise, strong stakeholder skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
You will have:
At least three years' experience in an accounting role.
A relevant tertiary qualification.
CA qualification, or be close to obtaining CAANZ membership (or equivalent).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
Strong systems capability, with SAP experience highly regarded.
Well-developed analytical, evaluation and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
A flexible, innovative and adaptable approach, with a desire to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
