At LIC we are proud of our contribution to the New Zealand dairy sector. Our vision is to improve the prosperity and productivity of New Zealand farmers; and we want great people to join us on our journey.
About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high achieving People & Performance Team where you can grow and learn from experienced staff who will mentor, provide support and have fun. You will be motivated and passionate about human resources and enjoy supporting people leaders across the business.
This is a fixed-term role for approximately 18 months, where you'll initially support our team with seasonal administrative tasks before transitioning into a parental leave cover for one of our HR Advisors.
You’ll kick things off by getting to grips with how we generate and process seasonal employment agreements. You'll be supporting our HR Administrator and Advisors with onboarding tasks to ensure our seasonal workforce is set up for success.
Once the seasonal onboarding wraps up, your focus will broaden to wider HR admin responsibilities. This includes preparing employment agreements and amendments, maintaining our employee database, onboarding contractors, and managing staff departures.
As you grow in confidence and capability, you’ll step further into the advisory space — supporting our people leaders with HR queries and employment relations matters. It’s a fantastic opportunity to build your career in HR and make a real impact across the business.
Overall, you are responsible for:
- Generation of employment documentation and processing into payroll / onboarding systems.
- Day to day support to LIC’s people managers, advising on employment legislation, compliance and policies.
- Whilst we have a Recruitment Coach at LIC, from time to time you may be assisting managers with recruitment and onboarding of candidates.
- Supporting the P&P Managers by assisting and advising on employment relation issues and performance management concerns including facilitating performance management processes.
- Working alongside the Employee Experience Manager to design and deliver better employee experiences. This will include improving our current range of people products and services, as well as implementing new initiatives that add value by increasing employee engagement. Finding ways to attract, retain and develop our people will be some of the things this role will focus on.
- Supporting the wider P&P team, specifically the Employee Experience Manager and P&P Managers with a range of people related activities.
About You
We are seeking someone who has experience in employment agreement generation/administration coupled with some foundational 1 -2 years' experience in HR advisory. This might be supporting an improvement plan, answering general people related queries (like policy interpretation), or support with employment relations issues for our people and leaders.
The ideal candidate will have up to date knowledge of employment legislation, confidence in creating employment agreements and be able to hit the ground running in a new and varied environment.
We would also value a candidate with strong communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills. You will thrive in our P&P team if you seek the opportunity to innovate and continually improve.
