Our benefits
-
Naturally, it’s about ensuring you’re at your best. When you thrive, we all do—so we offer flexibility, well-being support, and opportunities to grow.
LIC recognises the importance of monetary and non-monetary benefits for our employees. In addition to remuneration and rewards, LIC extends to all permanent and select other employees, a range of possible entitlements, listed in Documents & Forms | P&P Policies under our Employee Benefits Policy.
These include:
• LIC days (annual leave days, up to two a year)
• Long service leave
• Leave without pay
• Family leave
• Flexible working arrangements (LIC Balance)
• Volunteers day -
Discounted health insurance with Southern Cross
Life, income protection and critical illness insurance – new employees can join in the first 90 days if they choose

Over 65s - Once you turn 65, employer KiwiSaver contributions are no longer compulsory. The government will also stop contributing to your KiwiSaver account, unless certain limited circumstances apply. Currently, LIC continues to make employer KiwiSaver contributions to employees over 65 through a salary sacrifice. Under the proposed new approach, we would include employer contributions as an additional figure over and above your base remuneration.
-
One of the benefits of being an LIC employee is the ability to belong to the LIC’s Employee Share Scheme (ESS).
LIC has partnered with Craig's Investment who will administer any shared trading – and all brokerage fees are covered by LIC.

As part of LIC's continued membership with N3, permanent staff members are eligible for the N3 Employee Benefits app called BOOST.
