About the role:
This key leadership role will have responsibility for the growth of our Diagnostics business, through delivery of cost-effective Animal Health services and continued improvement of laboratory operations, implementation of new products and ensuring existing products continue to meet customer expectations.
Reporting to the Diagnostics Manager, the role will be based at Riverlea Hamilton and will lead a team of 3 direct reports who have a team of 26 between them. The role offers the perfect blend of science and commercial imperatives.
Your key focus:
- Lead and motivate a team, blending science with commercial strategy
- Oversee lab resources, maintenance, and new test implementation
- Ensure compliance with MPI and IANZ 17025 standards
- Optimize processes for efficiency and cost savings
- Support new product launches and report on operational performance
- Stay current with animal health diagnostic developments
About You:
- Hold a degree in molecular/biological sciences with experience in diagnostic applications.
- 3 to 5 years’ lab management, ideally in the biological sector.
- Strong process analysis and implementation skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with ISO 17025 standards and audits.
- Proven track record in continuous improvement and change leadership.
- Financial budgeting and cost modelling knowledge.
- Understanding of health and safety legislation.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective team leadership and motivation.
